North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the town board, in partnership with Governor Andrew Cuomo, Senator Jack Martins, Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel and AARP Long Island, held a two-hour Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program at Clinton G. Martin Park on June 20. The workshop was one of many held by New York State’s Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services to provide residents with the knowledge necessary to prepare for any type of disaster, respond accordingly, and return as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. All families that participated received a free New York State Disaster Preparedness Kit which contained key items to assist them in the aftermath of a disaster.
