The Town of North Hempstead’s Project Independence will hold beginner exercise classes at 10 a.m. in the “Yes We Can” Community Center at 141 Garden St. in Westbury.

 

Black History Month Presentation

The Town of North Hempstead will hold a Black History Month presentation at 6:30 p.m. in the “Yes We Can” Community Center at 141 Garden St. in Westbury. The theme will be “The Words of Maya Angelou” and will feature, in part, readings of Angelou’s most famous works. Intermingled with the readings will be musical performances from a number of area schools. New awards will be given out this year, honoring prominent African American members of the North Hempstead community who have displayed remarkable generosity in their care and service of the town. One honoree will be selected from each council district.

 

Wynonna and Friends

Flapjack Fundraiser

Applebees is hosting a flapjack fundraiser to help the New Hyde Park 12U  Boys Baseball team on their road to Cooperstown’s All Star Village Tournament from 8 to 10 a.m. at 1985 Jericho Tpke. in New Hyde Park. Tickets are only $12 for a full delicious breakfast. This is their once and only opportunity before they age out of eligibility. Learn about hearing loss facts, signs of the condition and hearing aids from Alison Hoffman from Advanced Hearing Center.
